Nippers Nutrition & Healthy Eating For Under 5’s
We are delighted to announce that we have been re-assessed by our Nippers Nutrition coordinator who has continued our Level 5 award certificate for achieving their GOLD STAR standard. Our menus provide healthy and nutritious foods for our children that are calorie adequate and a broad balance of healthy foods. When we had our visit in October we were told that our menus are one of the best in the county for variety and exciting meals. Ofsted have been very complimentary about our commitment to children’s health and well-being. We have maintained this level 5 since we started the programme in 2012. Our winter menu’s can be viewed in the ‘Healthy Eating For Under 5’s’ section.
The Environmental Health Department check all daycare provisions catering for children to ensure that cleanliness, hygeine and food storage meets a certain standard. In our most recent assessment we again received level 5 in all areas checked. Nikki, Catherine and Gill are qualified in ‘Safer Food Handling’
Vigorous cleaning at the end of each day ensures that our hygiene standards are maintained.
Spare Clothes & Cold Weather Arrangements
We encourage all children to play outside and experience the natural world, we encourage outdoor play every day so ideally children need to be dressed in all weather suits and wellington boots so that they can splash in puddles, look for rain drops and in the approaching months discover the delights of winter turning to spring.
We also have a mud kitchen, an outdoor water area and a large sit-in sandpit. We are endeavouring to make the outdoor space and indoor space individual play areas so have decided to have outdoor footwear which needs to be boots or old shoes and indoor footwear -clean shoes or slippers. It would be helpful if your child could have indoor and outdoor footwear. Please also provide an outdoor warm coat.
